Baztan "Jorge Oteiza" (Elizondo) ethnographic museum

Jorge Oteiza de Baztán Ethnographic Museum.

Puriosenea House, a superb example of Baztán architecture of the 16th century, has, since 2003, hosted a representative display of the traditions and ways of life in this valley with a strong historical identity. Respecting the interior layout of this former home, the exhibition rooms are adapted to the various available areas, offering the visitor a most agreeable tour through the different aspects that have gone to make up the identity of this region, emphasising the special characteristics of its administrative area. In addition to the ethnographic items, the museum has, since 2004, had on show in the garden an archaeological monument of great interest, the Solar Menhir. As a tribute to the sculptor Jorge Oteiza, a great lover of the valley and the driving force behind the museum, a sculpture entitled "Maternidad", donated by the artist, is on display outside the building.
