Event about climate and energy commitments

Condestable Palace, Mayor Street 2, Pamplona

10:30-14:00 h

Adaptive management of the local environment is part of the actions developed in the framework of Project LIFE NAdapta and the Climate Change Roadmap of Navarra. This action is another example of the active commitment of our region against climate change.

A challenge of this magnitude requires the active involvement of all public and private agents. Thus, in the framework of the European initiative "Covenant of Mayors", local governments can commit to greenhouse gas emissions reduction objectives and adopt a common approach for climate change mitigation and adaptation, as well as for fighting energy poverty.

The Government of Navarra invites Local Entities to endorse this climate and energy commitment in line with the Climate Change Roadmap of Navarra and the European "Covenant of Mayors" methodology.

Last April 25th, we launched the forum AGORA KLINA in the Parliament of Navarra to debate and follow-up the Government of Navarra policies against Climate Change.

Since then, we have promoted sessions on water and irrigation, urbanism and local environment, women and climate change.

Enough novelties have occurred in the last weeks that justifiy the call for a Forum Plenary:

• 2018 October 8th 1.5ºC global warming IPCC special report.

• WOMEN and CLIMATE CHANGE meeting held in Pamplona on October 15th and 16th.

• Pyrenean Climate Change Observatory report: impacts, vulnerabilities and adaptation.

• Drafting processes of Navarrese and Spanish Laws of Energy Transition and Climate Change.

• 2017 Navarra Energy Balance.

• 2017 Navarra emissions inventory.

• UN Framework Convention on Climate Change conference (COP24) in Katowice between December 2nd and 14th, in which the Government of Navarra was present.
