The call for official selection entries is coming to a close. Deadline is September 30. Interested filmmakers can register online at the festival’s website (www.puntodevista.navarra.es), where they can also read the terms and conditions. DVD copies of registered films should be sent to the festival’

The call for official selection entries is coming to a close. Deadline is September 30. Interested filmmakers can register online at the festival’s website, where they can also read the terms and conditions. DVD copies of registered films should be sent to the festival’s offices by October 3, 2009.

The Punto de Vista Festival competition is open to documentaries from any country shot after August 1, 2008, irrespective of their subject matter, length, or original language. Fiction, institutional, or advertising films shall not be eligible. Likewise, journalism movies cannot enter the competition.

The SELECTION COMMITTEE that will evaluate the entries will be made up by Gonzalo de Pedro (Programming Coordinator), Josetxo Cerdán (Artistic Director), Maite Bermúdez (scriptwriter and film professor), Elena Oroz (filmmaker and documentary critic), and Miguel Fernández Labayen (university professor). The selection will be announced in late December, 2009.

The films included in the Official Selection of the festival’s next edition (to be held in Pamplona in February 2010) will be eligible to the following prizes:

Official Awards
-
Punto de Vista Award for Best Film: €10,000
- Jean Vigo Award to Best Director: €5,500
- Award for Best Short Film: €3,500

Special Awards
- People’s Choice Award for Best Film: €2,500
- Honourable Mentions: The Jury is entitled to award up to two honourable mentions, worth €1,250 each.
